Rough history before we have The Hop

Bar 23

If you never heard about Bar 23 before, in 2011 before we have The Hop, before we danced at Zaks, Parking Toys, or Fubar, we used to call Bar 23 our home. It was the first proper social dance venue for Bangkok Swing. It was a very small, cozy, friendly and charming place. On the first social nights, there were only 4-6 people. Although we have many awesome social dance venues these days, Bar 23 is still a very special memory for many people

Fu Bar

Through an unassuming office building entrance and up an ordinary looking elevator you enter FUBAR, a former home of Bangkok swing. A chic Chidlom bar with a difference dear to swing dancers – a wooden dance floor. Their food & drinks sustained Bangkok Swing through its early days providing a home to the city’s blossoming swing dancing scene. Until The Hop was ready, FUBAR provided Bangkok Swing with a home, and the occasional class venue with others fell through at the last minute.

Fu Bar

Zaks

Situated above one of Bangkok's finer Italian restaurants, Zaks was Bangkok Swing's mid-week get away. Because it was easy to get to by public transport, Zaks quickly became a second home to Bangkok Swing. It was where we blossomed, grew and practiced. A majority of our newer dancers also first started dancing with at Zaks. We have a lot of fond memories from Zaks, a lot of first dances, more laughters and endless love for the space.
